The Nobel Prize for Alternative Practitioners
I have on my desk a remarkable exchange of letters. It is correspondence
between Professor Doctor Anton Jayasuriya, Chancellor of The Open
International University for Complementary Medicines, and Dr. Michael
Sohlman, Executive Director of The Nobel Foundation. The Professor
(who has many many titles, knighthoods, honours, degrees and other
qualifications from universities around the globe), points out the
long history of traditional, alternative and complementary medicine
as viable clinical modalities for curative purposes for all Mankind. "These
medicines are safe, simple, effective and economical, with considerably
less side effects as compared to allopathic pharmacological medicines." He
adds "In the last century, the colonial powers tried to suppress
these forms of medicine in the Orient for economic reasons, in order
to sell Western pharmaceuticals. Eastern medicines, cultures, languages
and religions were suppressed by the colonialists."
A strong politicizing statement. The Nobel Foundation could hardly
avoid a reply that was, in effect, a position statement. It is good
news therefore to note that the reply affirmed that "Alternative
medicine is not excluded, and provided we get correctly nominated
people within this field and find their discoveries important, we
will of course consider also this field..."
My own view is that perhaps the Peace Prize is appropriate for some,
rather than medicine or physiology. In those terms, Anton Jayasuriya
himself would be a valid nominee. He and his respectful followers
have treated over 2 million people with acupuncture and homeopathy,
recording many miraculous recoveries. He has never charged a penny
piece to any patient in 50 years of practice and is much loved by
the poor and humble of Sri Lanka for his generosity and skill. The
many rich detractors of unorthodox alternatives and the fat cats
feeding off the dug industry could never come remotely close to such
a service to Mankind, no matter their pretensions.
On the website: the archeological evidence of the use of acupuncture
in prehistoric Sri Lanka by Professor Anton Jayasuriya. Fascinating
reading: elephants have acupuncture points which have been known
for over 7,000 years and this is why the Asian elephant has been
tamed but not the African! Note that Sri Lankan kings have long been
known as healers. King Pandukabhaya (circa 500 BC) built the first
general hospital in the world, according to US historians Will and
Ariel Durant. King Buddhadasa (3rd century AD) carried out great
feats of major surgery, including brain surgery on men and animals.
The anaesthetic used was probably acupuncture and opiate wine.

Linus Pauling was always right...
"FINDINGS: Strong inverse relationship for blood ascorbate
(vitamin-C) concentrations with all-cause and cardiovascular disease
mortality, which were only marginally reduced after adjustment for
confounders or supplement use. Those in the lowest fifth (< 17
micromol/L) had the highest mortality, whereas those in the highest
fifth (> 66 micromol/L) had a mortality risk nearly half that
(hazard ratio = 0.54; 95% CI: 0.34, 0.84). Similar results were found
after the exclusion of those subjects with cardiovascular disease
or cancer at baseline (hazard ratio = 0.51; 0.28, 0.93). In fully
adjusted models, there was no evidence for an influence of alpha-tocopherol,
beta-carotene, or retinol on total mortality. Dietary antioxidants
measured by the food-frequency questionnaire were not associated
with all-cause or cardiovascular disease mortality"
In plain English: the main thing that mattered was vitamin C. Forget
the rest!

The blinding truth about an aspirin a day
"A major research study in Canada found that daily aspirin
use actually increased the risk of stroke and heart attack in 40%
of the people who took it. This finding is supported by three other
studies (Germany, Britain and U.S.) New research shows that such
long-term aspirin use can make you blind by increasing your risk
of macular degeneration, and even increasing your risk of cataracts
by up to 44 percent" - Dr. David G. Williams
What you really need to check out is a product called Beyond Chelation
from http://www.longevityplus.com .
It is the best combination I know to proect artery health and prevent
disastrous clotting. The producer (Dr Garry Gordon) claims that no-one,
in 10 years, has had a heart attack while taking this product.

PSYCHIC X-RAYS
Gifted healer sees through tissues and bones!
In case you missed it (I'm sure
no-one really reads The Sun newspaper!)
Recently the British newspaper The Sun reported on a Russian girl
who seems to have some kind of X-ray vision with which she can
see health problems within a human body. Last week, The Sun newspaper
brought Natasha Demkina to London to test her skills. According
to reporter Briony Warden, who recently suffered multiple injuries
after she was hit by a car, Demkina accurately diagnosed all the
fractures in her legs and hips, even "seeing" the scars
of metal pins and screws which were in her leg until two weeks
ago. "Natasha is amazing. I was very skeptical at first but
after just a few minutes she focused on my major fractures," said
Warden, "I was very impressed. It was as though she was looking
at X-rays of me. Only my orthopedic consultant could have known
more."
The 17-year-old Russian girl, who is currently undergoing medical
tests to understand her gift, hopes to become a doctor in the future. "I
want to become a doctor who helps people," she explained. "It
is psychologically very hard telling people there is something wrong
with them."

Did you know Viagra was good for (cut) plants?
Viagra is good not only for treating male impotence, but small concentrations
of the drug dissolved in a vase of water can also double the shelf
life of cut flowers, making them stand up straight for as long as
a week beyond their natural life span. Viagra has been tested in
strawberries, legumes, roses, carnations, broccoli and other perishables.
One milligram of Viagra (compared with 50 mgm in one pill taken by
men) in a solution appears to be enough for the beneficial effect.
Viagra has a similar effect on plant ripening as it does on male
sexual organs. Viagra increases the vase life of flowers by retarding
the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate. If the flower industry
uses this preservation method, edible flowers may become more popular
than ever before!

Ancestral Voices
If you haven't already visited my webpage on the VoCal 360 system,
I encourage you to do so now. It's been one of the most significant
breakthroughs in mind technology I can think of, as big as NLP and
bigger than psychoanalysis. But it's totally different from either.
It's a machine!!
Well, a computer device really. It's based on a remarkable voice
re-patterning method, developed by aerospace engineer Calvin Young.
Calvin is not so much an engineering boffin (which he is) but a highly
intuitive man, who was led on a path to investigate voice patterns
and their meaning. He started out with Sharry Edwards' brilliant
award-winning innovations and worked forward on his own path to discover
just how much we are imprints of our grandparents. Freud stopped
at parents and only got a fragment of the story. We all know we copy
our parents but how does that help?
It seems the real emotional baggage comes down two generations in
a leap - in much the same way that genetic diseases often skip and
re-emerge every other generation. The voice patterns hold remarkable
clues to which grandparents we link to and how. The really important
aspect of the breakthrough is that it enables release or unblocking
of the emotional trauma, leading to some amazing results.
Time and again Calvin has been able to demonstrate what any good
physician knows: that any and all disease is underpinned by negative
emotions. But the VoCal will enable you to do something about it.
Every practitioner of health and healing should have access to this
technology.

CAFFEINE: ARE YOU AFFECTED?
Here are some caffeine quotes to make you stop and think.
Clinical nutritionist Stephen Cherniske, Author, Caffeine Blues:
Wake Up to the Dangers of America's #1 Drug:
"For five years I worked in a team practice with physicians
and psychotherapists. Often, the psychological evaluation would include
one or more anxiety syndromes, and the recommendation was for counseling.
I would point out that the person was consuming excessive amounts
of caffeine and request a trial month off caffeine prior to therapy
sessions. In about 50% of cases, the anxiety syndrome would resolve
with caffeine withdrawal alone."
"In over a decade of practice as a clinical nutritionist, I
have seen firsthand, with thousands of clients, that caffeine is
a health hazard. Anxiety, muscle aches, PMS, headaches....However,
if that's all caffeine has done to you, you're lucky. What about
people misdiagnosed as neurotic or even psychotic, who spend years
and small fortunes in psychotherapy--all because no one asked them
about their caffeine intake?"
Dr. Sidney Kaye, Institute of Legal Medicine:
"The symptoms vary with acquired or inborn tolerance, but in
general the patients may complain of [among other symptoms] nervousness,
restlessness, silliness, elation, euphoria, confusion, disorientation,
excitation, and even violent behavior with wild, inanic screaming,
kicking and biting, progressing to semi-stupor."
"Coffee overindulgence is overlooked many times because the
bizarre symptoms may resemble and masquerade as an organic or mental
disease....But what a feeling of relief to both physician and patient
to see the symptoms completely disappear on the physician's order
to stop drinking coffee."
Sanford Bolton, PhD, and Gary Null, M.S., in the Journal of Orthomolecular
Psychiatry:
"Caffeinism may result in a syndrome which resembles and may
be confused or confounded with true psychotic states. This may lead
to misdiagnosis and mistreatment. A question arises from the varied
reports of caffeine consumption in psychiatric populations: Does
caffeine stimulate psychosis or does psychosis stimulate caffeine
consumption?"
Calvin Thrash, MD, Author, Food Allergies Made Simple:
"Thousands are in mental institutions today because of no greater
matter than that of the use of caffeine. Psychiatrists are now publishing
articles indicating that there are numerous cases of depression and
anxiety in mental institutions, who need no other treatment than
to be taken off caffeine.
"However, the use of caffeine is so traditional and firmly
entrenched that it is almost impossible to remove caffeinated drinks
from the diet of patients in mental institutions. Soft drink machines,
coffee dispensers, and the traditional coffee break are common pastimes
in mental institutions, and with those who are mentally ill at home."
Acquaintance Brian Matthews, who suffered from severe psychosis
due to caffeine, until it was correctly diagnosed, is compiling a
website about "caffeinism" and unless you already avoid
it, you owe it to yourself to check it out and think seriously: do
I really want this stuff?
